VISA requirements

Generally, a foreign citizen who wishes to enter the Kingdom of Thailand is required to obtain a VISA from a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate-General. However, nationals of certain countries qualify for visa exemption and others for visa on arrival. Travellers originating from or transiting through Yellow Fever infected areas must satisfy further requirements.

In order to boost tourism, the Thai Government has decided to offer free Tourist VISA between June 2009 and 4 March 2010.

The main page regarding VISA at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is found here.

An independent website, thaivisa.com, hosts forums regarding VISA to Thailand. It contains a wealth of information and many knowledgeable users are usually keen to offer extra information and help for unusual situations.

Travelling to Thailand

The new airport of Bangkok is Suvarnabhumi, among the largest and most modern airports in the world.

Transportation from the airport to the conference site is conveniently and economically made by Taxi Meter; these are secure and reliable services. It will be sufficient to show the driver a printout of our venue page to be taken to the site or a nearby hotel in less than 1 hour (depending on traffic) and for a cost of approximately $10-$15.

The Land of Smile

The conference secretariat is organizing some leisure trip for all delegates, which will be advertised at a later time. Apart from these half-day visits, if you can spare some time you will want to travel around Bangkok and beyond, as Thailand is a great place for tourism.

You can find a great amount of information about things to see and do in Thailand at the Tourism Authority of Thailand website.
